Football, NFL: Despite the Superbowl bankruptcy: Two Eagles coaches get a boss role

Status: 02/15/2023 08:20 a.m

Shortly after the defeat in the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs, two coaches of the Philadelphia Eagles switched to the managerial role at other clubs in the US football league NFL on Wednesday (February 15, 2023).

Shane Steichen is the new head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, while Jonathan Gannon takes over at the Arizona Cardinals. Head coach Nick Sirianni loses his two most important employees on the sidelines.

There’s a lot of development work waiting for the Colts

Steichen was the offensive lineman for the Eagles and has been under contract with Philadelphia for the past two seasons. The 37-year-old will be working as head coach in the American football league NFL for the first time. The Colts missed the playoffs for the second time in a row with just four wins this season and then parted ways with their interim coach Jeff Saturday.

Gannon was the Eagles’ defensive back and will also be heading up an NFL team for the first time as head coach. Gannon had also worked in Philadelphia for two seasons. The Cardinals also missed the playoff participation with only four wins, the previous head coach Kliff Kingsbury had to go as a result.

Like the Falcons once did

For the first time since 2016, a Super Bowl participant in the NFL has lost its responsible offensive and defensive coaches. Back then, this happened to the Atlanta Falcons.
