The perfect place

Some people are lucky that they live along the course. These people enjoy the cars in the sun with a nice drink in hand.

The first procession is over

The last car has disappeared from the course and with that the jury can start making their choice. The second procession follows at half past four. The neighborhood that has received the most points from the jury is asked in that parade to stop. Then follows the discharge, which is called the ‘Zundert jubel’ in Zundert.

The first procession has started!

After a musical opening of the Pasveer Corps from Leeuwarden, the cars left.

Neighborhood Stuivezand is the first to turn with their ‘daydream’. This club has been around since 1938. This year the neighborhood takes you into a world between reality and imagination. The car consists of many white and purple colors. In the background, relaxing, fairy -tale music sounds.

Advice in connection with the heat

It’s a warm day. The organization of the Corso therefore advises visitors to drink well water, not to drink too much alcohol and pay attention with medicines. Also use sunburn and ensure covering clothing.

It is of course also hot for the members of the neighborhoods. One of the cars has looked at it smartly: it is electric and therefore does not have to be pushed.

Along the course there are various water points where you can get water.

In addition to building up, also phasing out

As if it wasn’t busy enough yet … The tents in which there is plenty of built must also be demolished. Neighborhood ‘t Stuk started working on this this morning.

Help from the Belgian police

The Dutch police receive support from Belgium today in Zundert. “Zundert is flooded with Flemish tourists today and then recognizability of Belgian agents is nice,” says an agent.

Dahlias are starting to shrink through the sun

29 degrees and a burning sun: for the visitors nice weather but for the Dahlia it is less. “They are starting to shrink very fast,” says a corso builder. “You’re going to see that at the end of the day.”

Get inspiration for carnival

Wieteke from Gilze is at the Corso for the tenth year. Already from eleven o’clock is already along the course. “We want the best places and so we see them riding once now that they go to the starting place,” she says. She is at a carnival association herself. “Secretly I always get some inspiration for carnival.” With her back in the sun and lots of water, she and her mother and children get through the hot day.

Worked all night

To get everything, Buurtschap Raamberg worked all night on their ‘Cirque du Planetarium’. “At ten past five this morning the last flower went on,” says one of the members. “I hope people really get a wow feeling, just like us then the car came out of the tent.”

Welcome to this live blog. Here you can read and view everything about Bloemencorso Zundert today.

The cars drive out of their tents for the first time this morning. A special moment in which the neighborhood and the first visitors can see the cars as a whole for the first time. It is therefore busy in the Zundert streets.

Stories about the flower parade

In the run -up to the event we already posted various stories last week.

That’s how we visited Dennis Braspenning. This week he picked tens of thousands of brightly colored dahlias. In two days the Dahlias are finally tied on the car.

Buurtschap Achtmaal has been participating in the flower parade in Zundert since 1947, but winning? They never did that. “I don’t know where things go wrong,” laughs Lobke Hereijgers. She is 31 years old and that means that she has been walking around at the Achtmaal neighborhood for about 31 years. The fact that there is no profit to their name yet does not really matter to her. “If we turn seventeenth or eighteenth, it is just as big as when we become second or seventh.”

Curious about how the jury at the Zundert Bloemcorso is Toeleft? We spoke with jury chairman Frank Timmers. With a parade of such a high level, you can imagine that choosing a winner is very difficult. “We look at a number of aspects, for example design, theatrical qualities and use of materials,” explains Frank. “Every jury member has his own specialty. We have an artist, someone who makes sand and ice cults and a flower former. They all work at an international level.”
