Floor who got an egg against the eye makes a lot of sense: support and walking with the agent

The story about 16-year-old Floor from Tilburg, who may be permanently blind in one eye after strangers threw an egg against his eye, has stirred things up a lot. The boy gets a lot of support and condolences on social media. Practical help is also offered, such as spending a day with a local police officer in Tilburg. Floor is afraid that he cannot become a cop with one blind eye.

Last Tuesday two people on a moped threw an egg at the cycling Floor out of nowhere. He drove back from the Tilburg Kermis together with a friend and there was no reason why the oncoming traffic on the moped would pelt him. The egg hit his eye so hard that the ophthalmologist fears he will permanently lose sight in his left eye.

Dream in tatters
Besides the question of why someone does this, Floor realizes the impact this rowdy incident has on his life. Next year he will graduate from high school and then he wanted to go to the police academy to become a police officer. “But he is not accepted with one blind eye”, his mother Chantal has already sorted out. “If he gets a little bit of vision back then there will be more possibilities, so we can only hope.”

A local police officer from Tilburg was seized by Floor, who saw a dream evaporate and offered to take Floor for a day while he was on duty. Mother Chantal reacts enthusiastically to the proposal. “I expect Floor to look like a lot of fun.”

Uncomfortable and burdened
People also offer to start a crowdfunding to pay for the study trip from Floor to Sarajevo. Floor can’t work now to pay for that trip, as was intended.

Mother Chantal’s reaction to this is a bit more reserved. “I think it’s very sweet that people want to help in this way, but I feel a bit uncomfortable and burdened with it. I don’t want to be in the news in this way. I’m going to solve this myself for Floor.”
