Engine change Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez in Hungary | Motorsport

Verstappen had no power at the supreme moment on Saturday and as a result will only start tenth on the Hungaroring on Sunday afternoon (3 p.m.). It was probably a problem with engine part MGU-K.

Red Bull hopes that the engine can still be used this season and that the problem can be solved. However, a switch is now seen as the best option, because the repair takes hours. No risk is taken with Pérez’s engine.

The engine change has no consequences in Budapest, in terms of a penalty. Verstappen is not yet at the limit in that regard, the same applies to Pérez.

Both drivers are now at the maximum in his pool. Drivers are allowed to use three motorcycles per season. Whoever needs more will be punished. For that reason, Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc (Canada) and Carlos Sainz (France) have already started from the back this season and that will probably happen at least once with a total of ten races to go.

There is punishment at the Hungaroring for AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly after an engine change. He finished nineteenth in qualifying and now starts from the pit lane.
