Several carnival associations are experiencing problems because they have no place to build their carnival float. The Carnival De Moeslanden Foundation, which organizes the parade in Schaijk, sees that some clubs can no longer participate at all.
CV Hedde Wellus from Schaijk was founded in September 2022. Thanks to the carnival foundation, they were able to use a construction shed in their first year. “It was a warehouse that we were allowed to use for one year,” says Sjoerd Langendijk of the construction group. Now they have to go to another construction site again. “We will participate in the parade no matter what. Whether it is with a large car or as a running group.”
CV We Zen Der Ok We have not yet managed to find a good place in Schaijk. That’s why they had to move to Velp, but that’s easily half an hour’s bike ride. Guus Sol from the construction group: “It sometimes happens that the group app says that they don’t feel like cycling that far. That’s a shame.”
Cancellations
Wouter Spijkers is in the organization of the parade. He finds it very annoying that the clubs cannot find a place. According to him, there are even clubs that have to cancel as a result. “We are very disappointed about that. As a foundation, we no longer have any space. Otherwise, the clubs could of course build with us.”
Spijkers does have an explanation for the lack of space. “Farmers don’t like having strangers over. There are also fewer and fewer farmers.” The organization tries to find solutions. “We are trying to make the old municipal yard suitable for building cars. We are already talking about this with the municipality. We expect it to be arranged soon,” said Spijkers. The municipality has announced that it would like to contribute to a solution at the old municipal yard.
