Flick sees an increasing trend in DFB stars from FC Bayern and BVB

The recent successes of FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League give national coach Hansi Flick courage for the upcoming international matches.

“It’s about the players developing (…), that there is an upward trend – from everyone,” said Flick on RTL during the half-time break of Bayer Leverkusen’s Europa League game against AS Monaco. “That’s why we’re happy, happy and looking forward to the internationals in March.”

FC Bayern “played very well and deserved to win 1-0 in the round of 16 first leg at Paris Saint-Germain,” said the national coach. Although the Paris star ensemble showed in the final phase “what quality they have, I still think the way Bayern performed showed what quality they had,” said Flick (57 ), who had only spoken sporadically in public after the World Cup in Qatar.

Flick praises the atmosphere in Dortmund

Flick was a stadium guest when Borussia Dortmund beat Chelsea 1-0. The atmosphere was “sensational”. BVB scored “in the strongest phase” of the Londoners – with a “nice individual action” by national player Karim Adeyemi (21). “Dortmund have a lot of self-confidence with the last games they won,” said Flick.

The DFB team will face Peru in the first games after the World Cup on March 25th in Mainz and three days later in Cologne they will face Belgium. Until the home EM 2024 there are only test games on the schedule.
