Bamberg (dpa-Afx)-The damage on the ICE route Munich-Berlin was remedied after a fire in an underpass in Hirschaid near Bamberg. This means that trains can go again from Monday at the start of the company, the train said. However, individual delays could not be excluded.

Demanding also led to train failures on other routes

The express trains in both directions were diverted between Nuremberg and Erfurt. As a result, passengers took up to an hour and 40 minutes longer, and the ICE did not keep in Coburg, Erlangen and Bamberg.

Individual intercity trains between Nuremberg and Leipzig (above Jena) and between Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe and Gera have also failed. Passengers of regional trains and S-Bahn in the region had to switch to buses and large taxis.

Police investigated arson

The fire in the underpass broke out on July 4th. According to a rail spokeswoman, the building was damaged so massively that no trains could drive over the tracks. The Bamberg criminal police determined about suspicion of arson.

At first, however, there was no evidence that the fire with the aim was to paralyze the route. Accordingly, it was also conceivable that the wooden slats and pallets in the underpass had caught fire through negligence ./ram/dp/zb
