Fix: Mario Götze extended at Eintracht Frankfurt – before the cup final

Before the DFB Cup final

Mario Götze has prematurely extended his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt, which runs until 2025, by another year until 2026. This was officially announced by the Hessians, who will face RB Leipzig in the DFB Cup final on Saturday evening. On that day, offensive player Götze celebrates his 31st birthday.

SBU sports director Markus Krösche said: “The fact that Mario has committed himself to Eintracht Frankfurt in the long term is important news – especially before the DFB Cup final. He is an excellent fit for us personally and athletically and is increasingly becoming one of the defining faces of Eintracht. We knew last summer that we were bringing a great person and player to Eintracht and Mario confirmed that every day with his work and personality. He’s a cornerstone of our team. His early contract extension gives us planning security in a central position. It also underscores our ambitions to tie experienced players and identification figures to the club in addition to young players with potential.”

Götze, who switched from PSV Eindhoven to Eintracht for €3 million in 2022, explained: “I’ve felt very comfortable at Eintracht Frankfurt from day one. I fell in love with the club and the city. I see myself here in the future and I want to ensure clarity with my early contract extension. I am still firmly convinced of the great potential of Eintracht. The club has a clear plan and I identify with the goals. I’m looking forward to many more games for this club.” In 45 competitive games for the SBU, the 2014 World Champion contributed to twelve goals.
