Five hours in the queue and haven’t been able to fly to Faro yet

The frustration bursts with Thom Verheul from Haren in Groningen. “Eindhoven Airport is making a bid for the worst airport in Europe”, he bellows on Sunday morning. He wanted to fly to Faro on Saturday and although he queued five hours in advance, he was unable to get on the plane in time. His bags have already left.

“It’s terrible. Nobody here from Transavia, nobody from Corendon, nobody from Tui. No information to get, what a planning,” says the angry traveler.

He made 800 euros extra for a hotel in Eindhoven and new tickets on Sunday. “And the staff says I won’t get the money back because they don’t feel responsible.” Nevertheless, he is again five hours before his flight leaves Eindhoven Airport. Hopefully this time you will be able to get through security on time.

Like other airports in the Netherlands, Eindhoven Airport is experiencing delays due to crowds and staff shortages. In addition, Eindhoven regularly has to deal with malfunctioning systems. This time the conveyor belt at the security did not work. There was already a shortage of security guards due to sick leave.

It is not known how many travelers missed their flight on Saturday. Two weeks ago it also hit the airport. Then the baggage system did not work and hundreds of travelers were trapped.
