Because the building on the Van der Feltzpark is still being renovated, there is little of value to be found. “They bring a toolbox or things for construction. Stuff of 10, 20 euros. They also look for lead and copper, there is always something to their liking”, says Schaaij. He remains sober. “We don’t lose sleep over what they take with them, but it is very annoying that those windows are always shattered, and that those tools are gone every time.”
The latest burglary took place on Wednesday. “We are easy prey. The house is empty at night.” The police have meanwhile installed equipment so that they immediately receive a report. The hope is that officers can catch the crooks in the act.
