“The love after Love” is not only a successful television product. It has a balm effect on a relationship between fito paez and the public exhibiting scratches under the influence of the crack. In the light of a personal story where nostalgia, tragedy and overcoming are combined, and paternal love (brilliant Martin “Campi” Campilongo as Rodolfo Páez), brotherly (with Julian Kartun as Spinetta) and as a couple (with Mica Riera playing Fabi Cantilo, and Daryna Butryk as Cecilia Roth, Fito’s muses), the musician reaps the empathy of the fandom that never stopped idolizing him for his lyrics and genius at the piano. “Who said everything is lost? ANDor I come to offer my heart”, sings Fito willing to heal the wounds caused.
In 2011, after the triumph of Mauricio Macri As Buenos Aires head of government, the musician published a letter in the Página/12 newspaper expressing his “disgust” for half of the porteños. A city of “poor hearts” that felt angry: the musician had played a year earlier in the framework of the Argentine Bicentennial, and was close to the then president Cristina Kirchner and officials from your environment. Fito had arranged with Jorge Telerman, today director of the Buenos Aires Coliseum, do it at the San Martín Theater. But he knew that the Colón would generate another impact and he asked for the change. “The political issue was never discussed, but it flew over the negotiation. His relationship with the Buenos Aires was dirty and I think that both Fito and the City saw the opportunity to turn the page. Fito will perform again this year at the Teatro Colón. On October 16, commemorating ten years since the departure of the great Argentine composer and pianist, Gerardo Gandini. One more show for luxury in a schedule full of presentations in 2023, seeking to even surpass a remarkable 2022 with an international tour.
April began for Fito with two concerts sold out at the Vélez Sarsfield Stadium with more than 70 thousand people, and continued with a tour of the interior (Mar del Plata, Mendoza, Corrientes and Santa Fe). In May Porto Alegre (Brazil), Medellín and Bogotá (Colombia) signed up, before returning to Buenos Aires to present a new album. In July he will tour Spain. Malaga, Valencia, Seville, Barcelona and Madrid. “It is beautiful to live this present and future linked professionally and personally with a great of our popular music such as Fito”, Grinbank wrote on Twitter, as organizer of the concerts of the 30-year tour of “Love after love”.
“He played in front of 100,000 people in Cosquín, we did Vélez and the Arena, and we are on our way to the projection of reaching one million tickets sold by the time we finish the tour this year”, predicts the producer. 2023 also saw him applauded in Viña del Mar (Chile), in a great show that lasted an hour and where a battery of hits played. “Two days in the Life”, “Circo Beat”, and “Mariposa Tecknicolor”, among others, while fans cheered his name.
“Fito got what had not been given to him before due to various circumstances. He had wanted to do the same with ‘Love after love’ at the age of 20 and 25, and nothing happened. At 20 he recorded a live album that went unnoticed. Today there is a repositioning that mixes his national rock hero thing with a powerful news that is evident in the two Vélez. And the nostalgic 50s listen to him but also his 20-year-old children. A triumph that is due to the fact that he is more mature, because he put his ego in a box and worked towards this. A few years ago he had been closer to clay than to bronze, in the eye of the storm. He was able to get out of that and today his career is in an incredible process ”, celebrates another producer who knows him well.
“When we launched the beginning of ‘El amor después del amor’ we sold out in half an hour and we released the second function,” recalls Grinbank about the 2022 shows at the Movistar Arena. In his production company they explain that they could not make more dates due to lack of availability at the Villa Crespo venue. AND the expectation is that 2023 will follow an upward path thanks to the multiplier effect of the Netflix series, and the sound of the new versions of “Love after love” on music streaming platforms.
