First round KNVB cup immediately has a squatter: HFC gets Telstar to visit

In the first round of the KNVB Cup, second division player Royal HFC gets a visit from neighbor Telstar. Three years ago, the professionals on Spanjaardslaan were released unscathed thanks to a utilized penalty by Reda Kharchouch in the 92nd minute (1-2). OFC drew the most appealing opponent: the current number seven of the Eredivisie Sparta Rotterdam is coming to Oostzaan.

Third divisionist ADO’20 receives another premier divisionist at De Vlotter in Heemskerk: FC Emmen, while FC Volendam has to go to Harkemase Boys. DEM drew Blauw Geel ’38 and RKAV meets Quick from The Hague.

Tonight 54 balls went into the bowl, which eventually resulted in 27 matches. The five clubs that will play at European level this season (AZ, Ajax, PSV, FC Twente and Feyenoord) are free in the first round of the KNVB Cup. A dream draw for the amateur teams was therefore not forthcoming in advance.

North Holland cracker

Koninklijke HFC – Telstar is the North Holland squatter. Both clubs maintain close ties. For example, the current HFC trainer Gertjan Tamerus was active in the technical staff at Telstar and players have been active back and forth in the recent past.

Interesting posters were also produced for the other clubs in the province. Sparta Rotterdam is of course a great opponent for OFC. While ADO’20 receives a visit from eredivisionist FC Emmen. Four years ago FC Emmen died in the cup in their own stadium against that other amateur club from Heemskerk, ODIN’59.

RKAV DEM from Beverwijk will compete against Blauw Geel ’38 from Veghel in Brabant. Both teams are in the same competition, the third division on Sunday. RKAV Volendam, who was promoted to the third division on Saturday, receives Quick from The Hague (third division on Sunday). While the professionals from Volendam go by bus to Harkemase Boys (Saturday third division).

The matches in the first round of the KNVB Cup will be played on October 18, 19 and 20
