The two play-in finalists in the West Region of the Overwatch League have been determined. London Spitfire lost 3-1 to Boston Uprising, Vancouver Titans lost their early lead and were crushed 3-2 by Toronto Defiant. The winner between Toronto and Boston moves on to the playoffs.
For Boston Uprising, the road to the final was short. As fourth place in the regular season, the team started the play-ins in the semifinals. Boston gave the first card to London, but then kept the British on a short leash.
Toronto Defiant began the tournament in the quarterfinals. After the team made quick work of Washington Justice with a 3-0 win, it initially seemed to have no chance against its Canadian rival. It wasn’t until the half-time break that Toronto seemed revitalized and sent Vancouver into the losers’ bracket after a 2-0 deficit.
Despite the defeat, London’s title dream is not yet over. In the losers’ round there is now a duel with Washington Justice. If the Europeans win, the winner will be the match between San Francisco Shock and Vancouver Titans. If that succeeds, either Boston or Toronto will wait in the final.
