The matches will be played on Thursday, July 24 and the return is on Thursday 31 July. To penetrate the competition phase of the Conference League, AZ has to endure three preliminary rounds. In the 2022/23 season the club from Alkmaar succeeded and then it penetrated to the semi -finals of the third highest European tournament.
AZ succeeded in the play-offs to achieve qualification for European football. After the lost cup final against Go Ahead Eagles and fifth place in the competition, it was sentenced to the play-offs. The SC Heerenveen (4-1) and FC Twente (3-2) defeated it, so that it will also play European football next season.
Preparation
The selection of AZ is already starting the preparation for the new season today. The players first get all kinds of physical tests. The first training on the field is planned tomorrow. AZ will train the coming season at ‘t Lead in Alkmaar, the complex of Flamingo’s ’64, because the training complex in Wijdewormer is being renovated.
The first AZ exhibition match is on the program on 28 June. The opponent will be announced later. AZ is going from Monday 7 to Saturday 12 July at Training Camp in Ede.
