A house on Adrianus Benedictus van Lieshoutlaan in Waalwijk is temporarily uninhabitable after a fire broke out there on Sunday evening. Local residents removed the resident from the house.
The fire was discovered around half past seven. The resident was inside at the time. Before emergency services arrived, local residents managed to remove the resident from the house.
The resident was injured and taken to a hospital by ambulance personnel.
The fire appeared to have started on a sofa in the living room. The fire brigade quickly brought the fire under control. Nevertheless, the entire house was filled with smoke. Due to the heavy smoke and soot damage, the house is uninhabitable for the time being. The house will first need to be thoroughly cleaned.
How the fire could have started is being investigated. Arson cannot be ruled out.
