The fire brigade rescued a cow from a ditch in Breda on Tuesday afternoon. The animal had ended up in the water and was unable to get out on its own. During the rescue operation, one of the firefighters himself became stuck in the ditch.
Around one o’clock the fire brigade was alerted to an animal in the water near the Mark river in Breda. “A cow had ended up in a ditch there and it was impossible to get out on its own,” the Terheijden Fire Department writes. Facebook.
The firefighters went into the ditch dressed in waterproof suits. “We maneuvered a rope around the head and a fire hose under the belly of the cow. After a few hard pulls by colleagues on shore, and by finally strategically placing the hose under the cow’s butt, the animal managed to climb onto the side without too many unscathed.”

Another rescue
Just after the cow was safely in the meadow, a new rescue operation had to begin. The bottom of the ditch was so muddy that one of the firefighters himself became stuck. He couldn’t go anywhere anymore.
His colleagues pulled him onto dry land with a rope and combined forces.
