James Franco and Blaine Kern are the absolute protagonists of a live theatrical performance that blurs the lines between cinema and theatre, reality and fictioncreating an intimate and uncanny experience in which the audience feels like they are witnessing something raw and immediate, almost as if a cinematic scene came to life on stage.

James Franco And Peter Golddirectors of Desert Films, are ready to conquer Italy with this ambitious work with a theatrical tour that will start next autumn with 22 performances planned between Piccolo Bellini Theatre of Naples from 15 to 26 September, theAmber Jovinelli of Rome from 29 September to 4 October and the Pergola Theatre in Florence, where two dates are scheduled on 6 and 7 October 2026.

Desert Films takes up the character inspired by Robert Blake from the movie Highwaypresenting him to the audience as a mysterious manifestation who confronts a young actor – kidnapped and tied up – and delivers a disturbing monologue about the seduction and traps of celebrity. “One of my main interests is Hollywood. I read every book I can about old films, contemporary films, and the stars, directors, editors, cinematographers and screenwriters throughout the history of the medium – even production designers,” said Franco, director and protagonist of the work.
