Fire brigade is furious because their fuel car has been stolen

The voluntary fire brigade in Liempde did a great job on Wednesday evening during an evening to recruit new volunteers. The whole village was invited to see up close how the fire service cut open a car to free trapped occupants or how a burning car is extinguished. That fuel car is now gone.

Sander van Gils is one of the 20 fire brigade volunteers in Liempde. He told enthusiastically about his fire station that Wednesday. “We had never before organized such a spectacle for new growth. We could have borrowed that fuel car from the Brabant Noord Fire Brigade. That car is completely prepared to set fire to safety.”

“Everyone at the fire service is mad, it’s more than a scrap car.”

“Everything has been removed from that car,” explains Sander. “There is no engine in it anymore. The seats are out and there is a special connection for a gas bottle so that the car is on fire in a controlled manner. Now it is gone. We had cleaned everything up and put the fuel car on the side of the lawn to protect it. Thursday morning and now he’s gone.”

“Everyone at the fire service is angry,” he continues. “You can’t do anything with that car, but for us it is important to practice with. It is not just a scrap car.”

“They have no idea what they did.”

In the meantime, the photo with the missing fuel car is shared at the fire service on social media in the hope that someone will see the car somewhere. “39 fire stations in North Brabant use this practice and demonstration car. The ‘joke guys’ have no idea what they have done,” says Sander, somewhat dejected.
