Striker Fatih Kaya is leaving SV Wehen Wiesbaden at the end of the season and will begin his second stint abroad. The 26-year-old, who played at VV St. Truiden from 2022 to 2024, is moving to Samsunspor, as the third division club announced. Thorsten Fink, an old acquaintance of the former DFB youth national team player, is the coach there. The ex-professional and Kaya also worked together in Belgium, where the attacker made 41 appearances (two goals) under the German. No information was provided regarding the transfer modalities.

He had a much better goal rate after moving to SVWW. In 2024/25, Kaya became top scorer in the 3rd league with 20 goals and also scored the second most goals in Hesse in the past season. Eleven goals and four assists were only bettered by offensive partner Moritz Flotho (24) with twelve goals and nine assists.

“Fatih integrated himself excellently into the team from day one,” said Wehen’s sports director Uwe Stöver. “He took responsibility early on and off the pitch and gave us many beautiful moments with his goals and assists. We would have liked to have had him in our ranks. At the same time, we are happy for him that he now has the opportunity to take the next step in his career. We wish him all the best for his future journey. He is welcome at any time.”

If they stay, Kaya will meet other familiar faces from Germany in Samsun: central defender Rick van Drongelen (27) has increased his market value in Turkey to 6 million euros and former Stuttgart player Tanguy Coulibaly (25) is also under contract with Samsunspor. Fink took over from Thomas Reis in mid-February and is the third German trainer in a row after the ex-Schalke coach and Markus Gisdol. He scored an average of 1.83 points from 18 games, which is the best value for him personally in this snapshot since his time at FC Basel (2.08 points on average from 2009 to 2011).
