Thirty motorists were hurled on Wednesday afternoon for ignoring a red cross on the A58 at the exit to Goirle. The Red Cross stood on the board above the road after a collision.
The motorists on the A58 did not take the danger on Wednesday afternoon, while according to the police it can yield ‘life -threatening situations’.
“A red cross is not a suggestion, but a clear warning. Anyone who ignores it plays with his own life and that of others,” writes the Leijdal police on Instagram.
At least 250 euros
Those who have a lacquer on a red cross above the road risks a fine of 250 euros. Ignoring a red cross falls under criminal law. This means that the public prosecutor determines how high the fine actually becomes.
Since 2019, the police, ANWB, ambulance services, Bergers, Wegwerken and Rijkswaterstaat have been paying attention to the dangers of ignoring a red cross with the ‘#Nietvoornix’ campaign.
The slogan was devised because the number of drivers who did not hold on such a cross in that year increased enormously. In the year of the launch, ten thousand fines were handed out to drivers who ignored a red cross.
