The plans of Stompetoren to build an extra neighborhood on the west side are decades old. But the municipality always ran into provincial rules On. Young people are forced to leave for Alkmaar
For young people such as Sander Abelskamp (23) there is hope. He was born two kilometers away in Oterleek, but his social life is mainly set in Stompetoren.
Sander works at the only restaurant in the village and he sees that many peers have difficulty finding living space. “Many friends of mine are looking for something here in the polder, but because that often fails, they leave for Alkmaar.”
