The Powervolleys Düren are in the final of the DVV Cup after a deserved win against Giesen. The defending champion is waiting in the final.

The Powervolleys Düren are in the final of the German Volleyball Cup after a 3:1 (20:25, 25:18, 25:21, 25:20) against the Grizzlies Giesen. On Wednesday, the Düren team deservedly prevailed in a close game and made it into the final for the first time since 2021. Giesen too often left the existing opportunities unused, Düren acted more calmly overall.

Düren takes the third set

Düren let the self-confident Gieseners take their edge in the first set and gave it away completely deservedly. This was followed by a significant increase in performance in the second round. The third round developed into a thriller: The hosts were already 17:12 ahead and looked like the sure set winner before Giesen fought back and got within one point.

Two strong serves brought Düren significantly closer to winning the set. The power volleys finally used the second set ball to take a 2-1 lead, with only one round separating Düren from the final.

The opponent in the final will be Berlin

In the fourth set, Düren pulled away for the first time at 7:4, and the guests then called a timeout. Anyone who thought that was the preliminary decision was, however, mistaken. Giesen was suddenly completely back in the passage at 14:15. But then Düren increased the pressure again and won point after point. At 24:18, the hosts had six match points – the power volleys used the third to celebrate their entry into the final.

The opponents in the final will be the Berlin Recycling Volleys. The Berliners are the top favorites; there has been no other German champion than Berlin since 2016. The team from the capital won the DVV Cup in 2023 and 2024.
