At this year’s Orange Blossom Special Festival, between June 3rd and 5th, more than 25 acts will be performing in the Glitterhouse company garden in Beverungen. These include DeWolff, Niels Frevert, Eight Bucket Chicken Hearts and Cub & Wolf. If you still want to get a ticket, you can also go to the evening box office, which is open before the festival begins on June 2nd.
“A thousand thanks to our audience”
According to the Orange Blossom Special press release, more than 900 tickets are still available. The pandemic is responsible for the slower advance sales this year: In the years before Corona, such a high number of remaining items was “unthinkable”. Festival boss Rembert Stiewe would like to say a special thank you to all the loyal fans of the event: “Thanks to the solidarity and support of the OBS fans and thanks to a number of aid programs, we have gotten through the last two years. A thousand thanks to our audience, that was really good financially and emotionally, that was and is touching and really great”.
Dangerous situation for the culture industry
The current situation is now all the more difficult: Since it was not easy to get through the past two years, a loss of 25 percent of sales, which is now feared, is “businesswise problematic”. Not only have festivals been less well attended since the pandemic, almost all “concert events have suffered from an enormous loss of audience.” Stiewe can well understand the numerous reasons that are currently preventing “potentially interested” from deciding to buy tickets.
Despite everything, these would create a “threatening situation” for the culture and event industry. “At some point, when people want to go to concerts again, they may no longer be able to – because then there may be no more events,” Stiewe puts it drastically.
The organizers would therefore hope “that as many spontaneous people as possible make use of the purchase of the three-day and day tickets. After all, we want to be able to celebrate the OBS next year as well.” It also says: “Those who don’t come to the OBS on the Pentecost weekend will miss something.”
Here’s how you can still get a ticket:
The advance sale of the three-day hard tickets runs until May 29 via the Festival website. There they cost 101.50 euros plus shipping.
