The European Union’s openness to the use of e-fuels is obviously welcomed by Ferrari. Brussels has yet to finalize a proposal for a standard, expected for next autumn, but it took charge of the issue at the time of the definitive vote on the stop of internal combustion engines from 1 January 2035. “We expected that the discussion on fuel-powered vehicles with e-fuels in the European Union takes place in a couple of years, but it has already happened and we welcome this decision. As we stated at the Capital markets day last year, we believe that the internal combustion engine still has a lot to offer and , thanks to greater energy efficiency and e-fuels, we will develop solutions with our partners that will significantly contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions” explained the CEO of Ferrari Benedetto Vigna during the shareholders’ meeting.

the first electric ferrari

Meanwhile, the Maranello company is preparing to present its first electric car in 2025 as President John Elkann explains: “The further development of the electrification of our sports cars represents a great opportunity for us for the future. We have begun our journey of electrification in Formula 1 fourteen years ago in 2009, and what we learned on the track was adopted for the first time in our sports cars with the LaFerrari in 2013. We have then further developed our hybrid technology and our offer, expanding it, and in the last four years we have launched four hybrid models, all met by incredible market demand. Building on this racing tradition and extensive experience on the technical front, we are designing our first all-electric Ferrari, a cornerstone of our story that will be presented in 2025”.

electrification and neutrality

After having recently launched the Purosangue, the company’s first SUV, and having introduced plug-in hybrid systems on the SF90 and on the 296, the brand has a program full of novelties ahead of it: “Our main objectives – explains Vigna – include the launch of 15 new models between 2023 and 2026, our electrification plan and the achievement of carbon neutrality by 2030”.
