‘The pitfall that lay in wait was to disappear anonymously in the right-hand row of the first division for a long period of time. That doomsday scenario was not in line with the mission I have with FC Volendam. Together with the Supervisory Board and management, we shared our story, the situation at that moment, with all stakeholders and a dynamic was created that allowed us to change sentiment.’
Essential challenges
FC Volendam has laid a foundation for the long term by extending Busby. The club is looking ahead and wants to continue growing. ‘FC Volendam is still far from over, but essential challenges must be tackled!’
The challenges lie with the training facilities. Because the stadium has had natural grass since this season, the club has had to move to another training location. Initially this was EVC in Edam and now it is RKAV Volendam.

‘To give direction and shape to that growth in the coming period, stability and continuity at administrative level are crucial. Together with general manager Piet van der Pol, we will do our best to maintain peace and take the club to the next step. I feel very at home and appreciated in and at FC Volendam, and I did not hesitate for a moment to sign a new contract,” said Busby.
