Confirmed President Oke Göttlich has specified FC St. Pauli’s long-term plans to expand the Millerntor Stadium. The goal is 40,000 to 50,000 places, said the 49-year-old at the Hamburg Bundesliga club’s general meeting in the auditorium of Hamburg University.

The club is pleased about the commitment from politicians to support the expansion of the Millerntor and to tackle it together – in close communication with the district and the fans. The plans apply regardless of the city of Hamburg’s Olympic bid, it was said.

The neighborhood club’s wish has been around for a long time, the demand from fans is high, and many often come away empty-handed when it comes to ticket allocation. The first division team’s stadium is almost always sold out. St. Pauli achieved an average attendance of 29,506 fans in the 2024/2025 season. This corresponds to a utilization of 99.9 percent. With a capacity of 29,546, only Wolfsburg’s Volkswagen Arena (28,917), Union Berlin’s Stadion An der Alten Försterei (22,012) and Heidenheim’s Voith Arena (15,000) offer fewer seats in the Bundesliga. Most recently, the newly founded FCSP cooperative took over the majority of the Millerntor Stadium.

Göttlich, in office since November 2014, was re-elected president on Saturday with more than 93 percent of the vote. Together with the 49-year-old, Luise Gottberg, Hanna Obersteller and Jochen Winand were also confirmed as vice-presidents. “We see this re-election as a mandate to consistently continue on our chosen path – together with our members, our departments and all the people who shape this club,” said Göttlich, who is also a member of the DFL executive committee.

The brown-whites also announced that they had closed the 2024/25 financial year with a profit. There is talk of an annual surplus of just over 2 million euros. The Bundesliga club was also able to achieve a surplus in the previous financial year. Sales and other operating income increased from 80,032,723 to 102,381,443 euros. According to the club, this is due to the increased television money after promotion in 2024 as well as a significant increase in marketing sales.

FC St. Pauli achieved two milestones

“We had set ourselves two big goals for the past season: staying in the league and the successful implementation of the FCSP cooperative. Thanks to great performance and support on and off the pitch, we were able to achieve both milestones and thus create the financial basis for important future investments in our club infrastructure,” explained Wilken Engelbracht, commercial manager of FC St. Pauli.
