After tough negotiations, coach Fabian Hürzeler has extended his contract with promotion hopefuls FC St. Pauli beyond the current season. The leaders of the 2nd Bundesliga announced this on Friday without giving any further details. “FC St. Pauli and its head coach agreed not to disclose the contents of the contract,” it said in a statement.
“The conversations” were “characterized the entire time by mutual appreciation,” said Hürzeler: “We are all united by one goal: We want to achieve as much success as possible for FC St. Pauli and its fans. That is my job as Head coach – and I will continue to work with all my might for that.”
Hürzeler has been considered a kind of shooting star in the coaching scene since he took over St. Pauli in December 2022 and turned it into a success story. He is said to have insisted for a long time on an exit clause this summer, but recently dropped it.
