FC Schalke 04: “Final” for Thomas Reis?

At FC Schalke 04, there are increasing signs of an impending separation from coach Thomas Reis.

According to the “WAZ”, Reis is already threatened with a defeat at SC Paderborn next Friday (6:30 p.m., live on sport.de-Ticker) the end.

Background: Schalke then has eight days free of play until the clash against Hertha BSC (October 1st) – a period of time that would allow a possible new head coach to get to know the team.

“Sky” had previously reported that Reis was threatened with consequences due to the disastrous results of the last few weeks.

Both media outlets unanimously report on growing reservations in the team against Reis. According to the “WAZ”, his work is viewed extremely critically, especially by the experienced players in the squad. The relationship can no longer be repaired, wrote Sky.

As the pay-TV broadcaster further reveals in its online portal, there is also an early separation from sports director Peter Knäbel. The 56-year-old, whose contract expires next summer anyway and is unlikely to be extended, is said to have degenerated into a “lame duck”.

FC Schalke 04: U23 coach is not allowed to look after the professionals

It is unclear who could follow Rice and Knäbel. In the Schalke environment, Jakob Fimpel, currently coach of the Royal Blue U23s, is considered a possible candidate. However, the 34-year-old does not have the pro license required for the 2nd Bundesliga.

According to “WAZ”, it is also unclear who could currently decide on a coaching change given the vacuum in the S04 leadership.

Schalke is currently in 16th place in the lower house after just two wins from seven league games.

After the clear 1:3 defeat at FC St. Pauli, veteran Timo Baumgartl was carried away with public criticism of Reis.

Schalke then banished the 27-year-old to the U23s for the time being and imposed a fine on him. The club said Baumgartl had violated “internal rules of conduct”.
