FC Eindhoven strengthens third place, tumultuous match in Den Bosch

FC Eindhoven is the only one of the five Brabant clubs that came into action for the Kitchen Champion Division on Friday evening, to take the full loot. The team won 0-1 against Telstar. NAC Breda, Helmond Sport and TOP Oss went down. FC Den Bosch also lost 1-2 at home to Volendam. The game was stopped a number of times by the Cuijk referee Yannick van der Laan. There were several disturbances and, among others, the Bossche trainer Jack de Gier was twice yellow, so red.

NAC Breda – FC Dordrecht 1-2

Naoufal Bannis once again aimed for NAC. In the 38th minute he broke the spell in the home game against the low-ranking FC Dordrecht. Mathis Suray made sure that it was rightly equal in the 53rd minute: 1-1. In the ultimate final phase, NAC again had to deal with a setback: Sergio Tremour determined the final score at 1-2 in extra time.

Telstar – FC Eindhoven 0-1

The game between Telstar and FC Eindhoven was disappointing. There were no goals for a long time in Velsen. It wasn’t until the 82nd minute that there was cheering. Joey Sleegers used his umpteenth penalty for FC Eindhoven, which strengthens the third place. Competitor Roda JC, which started the 36th round as number four, lost to FC Emmen. Randy Wolters (Telstar) was shown red for causing the penalty. He dealt a headbutt.

FC Den Bosch – Volendam 1-2

Volendam took the lead very cheaply. The opening goal of Josh Flint (21.) was mainly thanks to Wouter van der Steen. The usually reliable Bossche keeper made a huge mistake with a high ball. Of course Robert Mühren also scored a goal, he made the 0-2 after half an hour. FC Den Bosch, however, kept fighting for a deserved point and that came very close in the 77th minute when Sebastiaan van Bakel tapped in 1-2. After that, all sorts of things happened in De Vliert, which was as embarrassing as it was fascinating. Glasses and fireworks were thrown and there were several disturbances on the field. In addition to De Gier, Terrence Douglas (FC Den Bosch) also received a red card.

With the win, Volendam, the number two in the Kitchen Champion Division, is certain of promotion to the Eredivisie. The orange shirts had to wait thirteen years for this. At the same time, the season for FC Den Bosch actually came to an end. Hopes to participate in the playoffs went up in smoke due to the home defeat. And trainer Jack de Gier can even go on holiday, so to speak. He almost certainly faces a two-game suspension.

Helmond Sport – De Graafschap 0-4

Closer Helmond Sport had little or nothing to do in Doetinchem. Within fifteen minutes it was already 0-1 by Jasper van Heertum, after two other hits by De Graafschap were rejected. Even before halftime, Basar Önal made it 0-2. De Graafschap also scored twice in the second half and both times Camiel Neghli was the celebrated man. It marked the fifth loss in a row for Helmond Sport.

TOP Oss – Almere City FC 2-3

TOP Oss seemed to be in for a dramatic evening for a long time. Almere City FC, revived after the appointment of Alex Pastoor, was much too strong and ran out to 0-3. The goals were scored by Danny Post (18.), Maarten Pouwels (39.) and Lance Duijvesteijn (56.) The latter used a penalty kick. Still, it became very exciting in the final phase, because Roshon van Eijma (81.) and Joshua Sanches (85.) managed to score against. However, the equalizer failed to materialize.
