FC Bayern’s transfers are not scary

FC Bayern have landed three winter signings with Eric Dier, Sacha Boey and the early signing of Bryan Zaragoza. The competition does not have to be afraid and anxious in view of this personnel policy. A comment.

Actually, those responsible at FC Bayern had made it their mission for this winter transfer period to learn from the past with dark chapters such as Serdar Tasci, Álvaro Odriozola and most recently Daley Blind and only sign real reinforcements.

The German record champions’ transfer activities have now been completed – and there are great doubts as to whether sports director Christoph Freund and Co. have achieved their own goals.

Eric Dier no longer played a role at his former club Tottenham Hotspur. So it’s no wonder that the Spurs didn’t put any obstacles in his way when he moved to FC Bayern and probably only received a mini transfer fee for the 30-year-old Englishman.

Sure, Dier brings with him the experience of 49 international matches for the Three Lions, 274 Premier League games and 54 appearances in various European cup competitions. However, the veteran is not a player who can permanently replace the established regulars at FC Bayern without any loss of quality or even make the team better. Its manageable performance (sport.de-Grade 3.5) in the narrow 3-2 win against FC Augsburg underlines this.

FC Bayern pays record sum for Sacha Boey

Only time will tell whether and how much Sacha Boey helps FC Bayern. The 23-year-old Frenchman could make his first appearance in Munich at the weekend against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

One thing is already certain: Boey, which was previously largely unknown in this country, was mercilessly overpriced.

His former club Galatasaray, knowing about the personnel plight, ultimately gave FC Bayern a whopping 30 million euros. Another five million euros in bonus payments could be added.

Boey is by far the most expensive player in his position who has ever found his way into the Bundesliga – and is even in the top 20 most expensive right-backs worldwide.

It is unclear exactly how much money the earlier deal with Bryan Zaragoza will cost FC Bayern. FC Bayern would have already paid Granada 13 million euros for Zaragoza anyway. It is likely that the German industry leader will now transfer a loan fee of a previously unknown amount for the early move to Spain.

FC Bayern’s chances of winning the title have not improved

Zaragoza is undoubtedly one of the most exciting newcomers in Spain’s La Liga, but he now has to deliver straight away in Munich and fill big shoes: He is the replacement for Kingsley Coman, who may be out for up to three months due to a torn medial ligament in his knee.

The national and international competition probably followed the three personalities relatively calmly. Bayer Leverkusen’s chances in the championship duel with FC Bayern are not worsened by the transfers of Dier, Boey and Zaragoza.

And with a view to the Champions League, there is no belief that the new trio will significantly increase Munich’s chances of winning the title.
