FC Bayern is cautious about a possible comeback from the injured Lena Oberdorf. The tremor for participating in the European Championship continues.
At the moment of the triumph about the third championship title in a row, those responsible for FC Bayern remain particularly careful with a question: that after the return of Lena Oberdorf. Coach Alexander Straus said that she first had to go into team training: “It is important that Lena is 100 percent fit and ready and we do not take any risk.”
Oberdorf may be part of the European Championship, the Norwegian added, but only if this was possible without risk. After her cruciate ligament tear, time threatens to be scarce.
Women’s football director Bianca Rech on ZDF said much more reserved: “She is in team training. But she is not up to date that she can play a European Championship.”
“With Obi it is just the case that the time component could actually fit,” recently said national coach Christian Wück emphasized: “It would of course be good if she could play two or three games for Bavaria this season.”
Regardless of the comeback of the national player, the Munich team finally completed the wax release in German women’s football. “I’m reluctant to talk about a change of power. But we just showed that we take the right steps and that we are not full,” said Rech.
After four VfL Wolfsburg championships from 2017 to 2020, FC Bayern won the title for the third time. Trainer Straus, who moved to Angel City FC to Los Angeles in summer, said with an oversized wheat beer glass in my hand: “I am very happy that I was part of the trip.” So far, it is not known who will be succeeded.
The Munich women celebrated their seventh championship title with reserved joy. “Party with a handbrake,” DFB captain Giulia Gwinn described the mood. Finally, the DFB Cup final against Werder Bremen is coming up on Thursday.
A carnival song already sounded in the cabin – to match the venue in Cologne. The Bayern women have never been able to win the double. “Place the cherry on the cake,” says Klara Bühl the big goal.
