Jonas Urbig apparently gets family reinforcements from FC Bayern. Brother Luis comes to Munich how the “picture” wants to experience. The 23-year-old will take on a role in the club’s women’s area in the future. There he is supposed to look after the goalkeepers of the second team in the 2nd Bundesliga.
Previously, Urbig was a goalkeeper coach at the Bundesliga women of Carl Zeiss Jena. At the beginning of May, the club had already announced that it would leave the club in summer. Now it is clear: he joins the German record champion – and follows his brother Jonas to Munich.
Jonas Urbig switched from 1st FC Köln to FC Bayern in January, played eleven competitive games in the second half of the season and is currently in use as a replacement goalkeeper for Manuel Neuer at the club World Cup in the USA (June 15th to July 13th). On Sunday, Bavaria meets Flamengo Rio de Janeiro in the round of 16.
Luis Urbig was not only active as a trainer: in the second half of the season, he temporarily helped out at 1. FC Düren – his home club. There he stood in the goal in April at 1: 4 against Lotte over 90 minutes. The background was an exceptional situation: after the termination of the entire team and the coaching team, the former Leverkusen junior had agreed to help out in the last four season games. Düren had come to an imbalance due to financial problems.
