54 minutes, three scorers
Youngster Mathys Tel only played 54 minutes of action to contribute three goals for FC Bayern in four Bundesliga games in the 2023/24 season. The 18-year-old right-footer, for whom the record champions did not consider a loan in the summer, has so far presented himself as a convincing alternative to top transfer Harry Kane, Leroy Sané or Serge Gnabry in the center and on the wing. Around Säbener Straße, people can apparently look forward to Tel staying longer than previously assumed.
Again “Kicker“ reports, the offensive force’s contract, which was originally dated until 2025, was automatically extended for another two years upon its 18th birthday in the spring. Tel was linked to Tottenham Hotspur, Werder Bremen and Olympique Marseille, among others, in the summer. Both he himself (“I want to stay here forever”) and his advisor (“He will stay, no matter what happens”) had mutually nipped rumors of a change in the bud.

FC Bayern were also absolutely convinced of the flexible attacker given Tel’s recent performances. “I’m extremely happy that he scored the winning goal in Gladbach. “Today he once again scored an important goal with a great move,” praised sports director Christoph Freund after the draw against Leverkusen and added:
“He is a really good and positive guy who accepts his role, wants to learn in every training session and has decided to stick his neck out at FC Bayern. Mathys is on a really good path, he is still a very young boy. I am very happy that he is at FC Bayern. And he is also very happy that he is with us.”
