FC Bayern is planning a lightning extension with Thomas Müller

Good news for all Thomas Müller fans: After the veteran’s future at FC Bayern was recently called into question, the German record champions want to get down to business this year and extend the contract with the 34-year-old.

Thomas Müller and FC Bayern will most likely continue to work together after the 2023/24 season. As “Sport Bild” reports, there is no doubt within the club that the 34-year-old’s contract should be extended again – and as quickly as possible.

According to the report, implementation is planned for the current calendar year. That means: FC Bayern would like to announce the contract extension with Thomas Müller before Christmas. The record champions also want to push the proverbial tube in order to show Müller the appropriate appreciation. There had recently been some doubts about this very appreciation.

Doubts about Müller’s future at FC Bayern

Müller has lost his regular place in the current season. The national player was only on the pitch six times at kick-off, and in only two games was he allowed to play the full 90 minutes. Many saw Müller’s substitution on the last matchday in Frankfurt as a real humiliation. There, Thomas Tuchel only replaced the club legend when the game had long since been decided with the score at 1:5.

Ex-national player Dietmar Hamann was already part of the camp that expected Müller to be out in Munich. “My feeling tells me that the paths are parting,” said Hamann on “Sky 90” at the beginning of December.

Those in charge at Bayern, on the other hand, always emphasized how important Müller was for FC Bayern, even in a limited role. “Thomas knows exactly what he has at FC Bayern, and we know what we have in Thomas,” said President Herbert Hainer, among others, a few days ago.
