Goal scorer Harry Kane from FC Bayern was named Personality of the Year 2025 by “kicker”. Sports director Max Eberl is happy for the Englishman and at the same time emphasized the center forward’s qualities – on and off the pitch.
“If I had to describe Harry Kane in three words, I would have answered earlier: goals, goals, goals,” said Eberl in “kicker” about his attacker: “Now we are extremely lucky to experience him every day at FC Bayern – three words are not enough, but if I had to limit myself: down-to-earth, world-class, game changer – and all of that applies at all levels.”
Kane received the “kicker” award because his value to FC Bayern goes “beyond his individual quality as a team player,” the trade magazine said in its statement. His running and defensively intensive workload is “anything but natural for a classic goalscorer”. Last year, Leverkusen’s former coach Xabi Alonso received the award.
Kane won the championship with FC Bayern last season and with it his first major title. In the 2024/25 season he scored 26 goals and was once again the top scorer.

Eberl emphasized: “Since I’ve been at FC Bayern, I’ve been able to see up close how he’s redefining the striker game. He’s the striker who not only scores himself, but also lets the others shine.”
Last but not least, Kane ensures that “the football world is looking to Munich. Reports about him increase interest in German football and show how attractive the league is for world-class players.”

The annual “kicker” award was first given to Franz Beckenbauer in 1990, and values off the pitch also count. Kane comes across as a “down-to-earth family man without any airs and graces,” said the reason for his choice.
With his Harry Kane Foundation, he also makes “a valuable social contribution in the fight against the stigmatization of mental illnesses and in supporting those affected.”
