FC Bayern confirms horror diagnosis for Kingsley Coman

Bad news after the 3-2 win in the Bundesliga at FC Augsburg: FC Bayern will have to be without winger Kingsley Coman for a long time.

As the German record champions announced, the 27-year-old Frenchman has suffered a torn medial ligament in his knee and will be missing “in the coming weeks”. According to media reports, the downtime is two to three months.

“It’s bittersweet, of course,” said sports director Christoph Freund, “but as we know Kingsley, he’ll come back even stronger. We wish him a speedy recovery!”

Coman was injured when Aleksandar Pavlovic scored FC Bayern’s opening goal (23′). FCA attacker Philip Tietz fell on the Frenchman, who then remained lying there.

Coman was initially treated by the German record champions’ medical staff. Then he had to be taken to the cabin. He couldn’t put any weight on his left leg. He later left the Augsburg Arena on crutches.

Numerous failures at FC Bayern

After many failures, FC Bayern has to cope with another setback, especially in defense.

In Augsburg, Tuchel had to do without Dayot Upamecano and Konrad Laimer (both muscle injuries) as well as Joshua Kimmich (shoulder).

Also missing are the long-term injured Serge Gnabry (muscle tendon injury in the left adductor area), Bouna Sarr (torn cruciate ligament) and Daniel Peretz (inner ligament injury in the right knee).

Minjae Kim and Noussair Mazraoui are also currently unavailable as they take part in the Asian and African continental championships with their national teams.

After all: With Sacha Boey, Tuchel will most likely soon have a new option in the defensive area. The Galatasaray right-back is about to move to FC Bayern, as the coach confirmed before the Augsburg game.
