The German record champions dominate the initial phase in St. Jakob-Park. After losing the ball, coach Thomas Tuchel’s team immediately starts pressing and quickly wins the ball back.

+++ 5th minute +++

In the first five minutes of the game, only FC Bayern had the ball. Basel initially limited themselves to defensive work.

+++ 2nd minute +++

The first chance for FC Bayern. Kane actually wants to cross the ball into the middle. But the Englishman’s cross attempt turns into a shot on goal. However, Basel goalkeeper Marwin Hitz steers the ball over the crossbar. The subsequent corner remains harmless.

+++ 1st minute, kick-off +++

The ball is rolling. FC Bayern starts the game at just around five degrees.

+++ It’s about to start! +++

The teams have disappeared back into the dressing room and are having their final meetings there. It should start in a little less than ten minutes.

+++ Bayern coach Tuchel has to do without some stars +++

In Basel, Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel has to do without some regular staff. While Minjae Kim and Noussair Mazraoui are preparing for the Asian and African Cups with their national teams, Bouna Sarr (torn cruciate ligament) and Serge Gnabry (muscle tendon injury in the left adductor area) are missing due to injury.

Substitute keeper Daniel Peretz will not be there either. The Israeli has suffered an inner ligament injury and will have to sit out for a few weeks.

It is also unclear whether Konrad Laimer will be able to play against Basel. The flexible defensive specialist was recently only able to train individually.

+++ Chance for Bayern talent Aznou? +++

A top talent from FC Bayern could celebrate his professional debut in St. Jakob-Park in Basel. Without Mazraoui, Sarr and Laimer, Adam Aznou could be used in the right-back position.

The 17-year-old is actually at home on the left side, but has recently been used by Thomas Tuchel in training at the back right.

Aznou came to Munich from FC Barcelona’s youth team in the summer of 2022 and has since impressed in the various U teams.

+++ Kingsley Coman optimistic before the Bundesliga restart +++

Bayern wing star Kingsley Coman was optimistic before the Bundesliga restart.

The Frenchman, who repeatedly struggled with minor injuries in the first half of the season, explained on the club’s own homepage: “We’re in a good mood, working a lot and intensively in training. We have good power. Now we have the first test match and then again a week of training. I’m sure we’ll be ready to go.”
