FC Bayern changes winter preparations: Switzerland plans canceled

FC Bayern has changed its training plans before the restart of the Bundesliga on January 12th against TSG Hoffenheim. Originally, the Munich team wanted to take a trip to the Swiss mountains before Saturday’s friendly at FC Basel to do “team building”, as we now say for getting together. But nothing will come of it.

As “Abendzeitung” reporter Maximilian Koch reports, Bayern have scrapped the plans. Basel is now scheduled as a day trip. “The team spirit should then be further strengthened in the Portugal training camp,” said the “AZ” journalist.

A user on “X” commented sarcastically on the Alpine cancellation: “No mountains for Neuer,” the joker alluded to the FCB captain’s serious skiing accident at the end of 2021.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel’s team will travel to Portugal after the Hoffenheim game and will set up camp for a training camp in Faro from January 14th to 18th. In the Portuguese sun, Tuchel wants to bring his team together and get them excited in order to have the best possible season.

FC Bayern with English Week in January

As a reminder: Bayern are out of the DFB Cup after a sensational defeat at 1. FC Saarbrücken, in the league they are four points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen, although the Munich team have one game less in their account. Bayern will face Lazio in the round of 16 of the Champions League.

After the Portugal trip, Bayern have two home games: on January 21st they will face Werder Bremen, before the catch-up game against Union Berlin takes place in the Allianz Arena on January 24th. The away game at FC Augsburg rounds off the record champions’ English week.

Bayern will end the month with the traditional fan club visits on January 28th. The club postponed this at the beginning of December due to the heavy snowfall in Bavaria.
