FC Bayern: Benjamin Pavard confirms change

Benjamin Pavard will leave Bayern Munich to join Italian giants Inter Milan. The Frenchman announced this himself on Tuesday evening.

In the end, FC Bayern gave in and agreed to Benjamin Pavard’s request for a change. The French world champion of 2018 traveled from Munich to Milan on Tuesday evening, Italian reporters had intercepted him there around 8 p.m. on his arrival at the airport.

Although official announcements from the two clubs are still pending, the 27-year-old grabbed his cell phone during his short flight and confirmed the transfer. “Here comes Benji, the Inter player,” Pavard wrote in his Instagram story for a picture he took from the plane.

According to “Sportmediaset”, the medical examinations are scheduled for Wednesday. He will then sign a five-year deal that will reportedly earn him €5m per season.

Benjamin Pavard’s contract with FC Bayern was still valid for around ten months, talks about an extension came to nothing weeks ago. Officially, the defender submitted his change request to the club bosses very late, as head coach Thomas Tuchel recently emphasized.

Pavard meets ex-Munich in Milan

That’s one of the reasons why Pavard’s move to Inter was in limbo. Tuchel had always emphasized that he only wanted to let the right foot go if a suitable replacement could be committed. Now the people of Munich have given the ex-Stuttgart the go-ahead without having officially signed a successor.

According to media reports, Inter must transfer 30 million euros plus two million euros as bonuses for Benjamin Pavard.

In Milan, the Frenchman now meets another ex-Munich player. During this transfer phase, FC Bayern had already given away their goalkeeper Yann Sommer to the 2022/23 Champions League finalists.
