About eighty young people between the ages of 6 and 18 were lucky today to receive lessons from the 2.13 meter long Amsterdammer Post. There was great interest in the free basketball camp: according to organizer All Day Athletes, which organized the event together with Post, around 800 registrations were received from home and abroad. Yesterday, 80 young basketball players also received lessons from the top athlete.
Post has now played for the Warriors in their hometown of San Francisco for two years. “As a result, I have now created quite a platform for many basketball players in the Netherlands,” he explains in the gym in Amstelveen. The center of the American top club thought it would be a good idea to give something back to the basketball community. “At the age of 13, it would have also seemed cool to spend a day watching an NBA player.”
Happy faces
Participants in Quinten’s class are very happy that their sports icon can be seen in the city. “I’m also happy that I’m one of the eighty lucky ones,” says a boy from Bijlmer who has been playing basketball for a few years. “It’s just a fun experience, to ask how he started his career and how he got to where he is today.”
