German women’s champion Bayern Munich has signed Colombian full-back Ana Maria Guzman.
The national player, who made it to the quarter-finals with the surprise team from South America at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, comes from her homeland from the first division team Deportivo Pereira and signed a four-year contract until 2027. According to Bayern, the 18-year-old is from the Eligible to play in the second half of the season.
Guzman was not used in the Colombians’ 2-1 win against Germany in the World Cup group stage. But she scored the winning goal in the round of 16 against Jamaica (1-0). Now the step to become a top European team followed.
“It’s unbelievable, it’s a dream come true for me to be able to play for such a fantastic team,” said Guzman: “There are many excellent players in this team from whom I can learn a lot – on and off the pitch.” At the same time, she wanted to be an “inspiration for many players in Colombia” and wanted to show “that their dreams can come true.”
