Not only in the professional squad, but also in the regional league reserve, personnel planning is currently in full swing. On Tuesday evening, FC Bayern announced another new signing for its second team.

As reported by the Munich team, Steve Breitkreuz is moving from second division side SSV Jahn Regensburg to FC Bayern II.

The 31-year-old has been without a contract since the beginning of the month and is therefore joining last year’s third-placed player in the Bavarian Regionalliga on a free transfer.

Breitkreuz has played for Jahn in the second division since 2021 and was placed in the central defense of Regensburg until the end.

“I’m really looking forward to my new job with the FC Bayern amateurs. I want to go ahead and support this young team with my experience,” said the defender about his move to the team, which otherwise mostly consists of U23 players.

With Breitkreuz as an experienced player with a total of 143 appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga, FC Bayern II is aiming for promotion back to the 3rd division this year, from which it was relegated two years ago.

On the FC Bayern club website, Halil Altintop was happy about the signing of Breitkreuz, who was born in Berlin: “He should be an important building block in the development of our young players in the regional league and give stability to the defence.”

The Munich second team is currently preparing for the new regional league season in Leogang, Austria. According to the club, the newcomer is now traveling there directly.

Before his time in Regensburg, Breitkreuz had also played for Erzgebirge Aue and Eintracht Braunschweig in the 2nd Bundesliga and 3rd League for years. However, he was unable to prevent relegation with Jahn from league two last season.
