Can Bayern only hope?
After the departure of the former sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, the contract negotiations between FC Bayern and Alphonso Davies’ advisor also suffered. Agent Nedal Huoseh (“ATG Sports”) explained in early summer that they simply hadn’t heard anything more. Davies insisted that he just wanted to play and help with Munich. Six months later, Davies’ contract is only valid for one and a half years, and according to a report from Spain, Real Madrid will soon try to convince the Canadian to move. Bayern President Herbert Hainer seems to be able to only hope at the moment.

“He has become one of the world’s best defenders with us, of course we want to keep him, and I hope that he wants that too,” Hainer recently said about Davies, who is practically already in Madrid. That’s what the “Relevo” portal wrote on Monday, meaning that the left-back from Munich is part of Real’s planning discussions for next season. Davies is the Royal team’s top target.
According to a report from “Marca” at the time, Davies’ representation had already clearly signaled to the Spaniards six months ago that they were not closing the door on Los Blancos. But they are also prepared to find an agreement to stay in Munich for a longer period if the conversation is sought again. This may have changed in the meantime given Hainer’s hopes, but how relevant this will still be if Real gets serious is another matter. Many clubs are interested in Davies, as advisor Huoseh recently assured.
As time goes on, the question arises as to how long it still makes sense to hope at FC Bayern. Next summer could be Davies’ last chance to sell if they don’t want to repeat the David Alaba case. The Austrian had made several hundred appearances on Bayern’s left defense until 2021 before moving to Real Madrid on a free transfer.
