VfB Stuttgart currently has no chance of permanently signing goalkeeper Alexander Nübel. This is what the “Kicker” reports. Accordingly, the loan from FC Bayern is too expensive for the Swabians, who cannot afford a package consisting of a transfer fee in the region of 8 million euros and a salary in the mid-single-digit million range. A purchase option was not negotiated.
An extension of the loan also doesn’t seem possible because Nübel would have to sign a new contract in Munich. His current one expires in 2025, so it would only be valid for another year when he returns in the summer. However, this is considered impossible as the 27-year-old has stated several times that he no longer wants to sit on the bench at FCB.

Captain Manuel Neuer is back there after returning from his long injury break, and the 37-year-old and his back-up Sven Ulreich recently extended their contracts, which originally expired at the end of the season, for another year. Therefore, according to the report, it is assumed that Nübel will transfer again after this season. He has had four changes in his career so far.
“We don’t have it in our own hands. Conditions are currently clarified,” VfB sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth is quoted as saying with regard to Nübel’s commitment. However, “we are in constant contact with Alexander and his management. There is clear mutual appreciation.” The 44-year-old recently announced that no stone would be left unturned at Nübel.
The former DFB junior has been between the posts 17 times for VfB to date and has kept eight clean sheets. “Alex is a difference player and the starting point for a lot of what goes well in our game,” said Wohlgemuth. “His influence goes well beyond the penalty area. He gives the entire team security.” Should VfB sign Nübel, he could become the most expensive keeper purchase in VfB history. Gregor Kobel has so far held this status with 7.2 million euros.
