The president of the Spanish champions FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, has announced that he wants to sign the two Portuguese loan players Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo, despite the club’s tense economic situation.
The 61-year-old confirmed this to the Arabic-language daily Asharq Al-Awsat.
Laporta is currently in Saudi Arabia in search of sources of income for the Catalans.
The Barcelona boss revealed that “negotiations regarding the two will begin shortly.” We have “very good relationships with both Manchester City and Atletico Madrid”.
Felix (Atletico) and Cancelo (City) moved to Barcelona on loan last summer and developed into top performers in coach Xavi’s team. Cancelo was loaned from the Citizens for six months last season by record champions Bayern Munich.
