FC Barcelona relieves Bayern Munich as main supplier in Qatar after injuries Mané and Gayà | 2022 football world cup

FC Barcelona supplies the most players to the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. The Spanish superpower stays ahead of Bayern Munich and Manchester City (16 players), among others. In the Netherlands, Ajax is best represented at the World Cup with eleven internationals.

It seemed as if Bayern Munich would take off with the honor of purveyor of the World Cup. But on Thursday it turned out that attacker Sadio Mané, who was previously known to be missing in the game against the Netherlands, had to miss the World Cup completely. As a result, the German record champion only supplies sixteen players.

Barcelona was also on that number until today. But Valencia player José Gayà had to drop out of the Spanish squad with an injury and was replaced by Barcelona back Alejandro Balde. This brings the number of World Cup visitors from the Catalans to 17, the highest of all clubs. Never before have so many players from one club gone to a World Cup.

Al-Sadd is the striking fourth club in this list. 15 of the 26 players from the selection of Qatar play for the club where Xavi was successful as a trainer for several years.

Premier League

As usual, the largest contingent of World Cup players comes from the English leagues. No less than 156 football players play for clubs from the Premier League or the level below. Of the football professionals working in Spain, 87 are active at the World Cup.

The competitions in Germany and Italy, which itself does not participate in the World Cup, provide 79 and 70 players respectively. 19 players from the Eredivisie are participating in the World Cup, 12 of which for the Orange.
