When Jeffrey Gouweleeuw ran for FC Augsburg for the first time on February 14, 2016, the Dutch hit his compatriot Arjen Robben-the FCA premiere ended 1: 3. At that time Robben was already a Bayern legend and 249 Bundesliga games later, this also applies to Gouweleeuw at the Augsburgers. At the home game on the 26th matchday against Wolfsburg, 33-year-old was in the starting eleven as usual, making it the first Dutch in Bundesliga history to reach the 250 game brand.

Heinz van Haaren, who ran for MSV Duisburg from 1964 to 1968 from 1964 to 1968, moved to FC Schalke, where he was active until 1972. Like Gouweleeuw, van Haaren practically played through in all of his games. Gouweleeuw already got his only dismissal in 250 games in his fifth FCA use against Bayer Leverkusen (3: 3) in the 92nd minute.

Gouweleeuw on record course at FC Augsburg

On January 9, 2016, the Fuggerstädter signed the 1.88-meter central defender for 3 million euros from Alkmaar-Gouweleeuw is by far the oldest professional in the FCA squad. In the Augsburger ranking with most Bundesliga games, he took second place behind Daniel Baier, who was 274 times in the upper house and 355 times for the FCA. The latter value will probably no longer reach Gouweleeuw, but the Bundesliga record is tangible because its contract runs until 2026.

This season, Gouweleeuw overhauled the Ranking of the Record Lower countries of the Bundesliga Ex-Herthaner Dick van Burik (245 games) and Willi Lippens (242), who ran for Rot-Weiss in the 70s and BVB. Robben “only” “only” on 201 Bundesliga missions due to injury in ten years. For this, the former wing speedster with 99 goals is the most accurate Dutch of the Ligah history.

Gouweleeuw will probably be in dispute the record in the coming years, since among the active Bayer Leverkusens Jeremie Frimpong (125) is far away and flirted with a move to Spain or England anyway. There are a total of 30 Dutchman who have run over 100 times in the Bundesliga. The other way around – Germans in the eredivisia – the number is 17 players who cracked the 100. Simon Cziommer leads the list with 230 games for six clubs and could be replaced by Lars Unnerstall (200) next season, which is set on Twente and is under contract there by 2027.
