“Many moped cars are driving around in and around Amsterdam,” says spokesperson Steven Greven of the province in conversation with NH. They regularly end up on the cycle path, while that is not allowed. “It is getting busier on the cycle path with electric bicycles, cargo bikes, so you can’t have those moped cars.”
The spokesperson for the municipality of Amstelveen emphasizes that the current expressions are just the start of a broader campaign. “We also want to maintain more,” she says.
Who are the owners?
Because many moped cars governed by young people (from the age of 16), the parties also think of a targeted social media campaign. “Who exactly are the owners?”, Provincial spokesman wonders aloud. “And perhaps the campaign can also be rolled out in other places in the country.”
