On the Market in Bladel, in the town hall in Cuijk and at a farm in Moerdijk. On Thursday evening tractors will appear in various places in Brabant. The farmers want to draw attention again to the consequences of the government’s nitrogen plans.

They aim their proverbial arrows, among other things, at politics in the Land van Cuijk. The city council of this municipality met this Thursday evening. A group of about twenty mostly young farmers were allowed to have their say in the town hall. They had parked their tractors (certainly about twenty) on the Louis Jansenplein. Bystanders were treated to products from the country and the companies of the activists. Everything went without any problems.

It was also pleasant and busy in Bladel, where farmers and citizens met on the Market.

Earlier this week, farmer delegations seized on council meetings in Bergeijk, Eersel and Valkenswaard, among others, to express their concerns and ask for support. Often in a playful way, but with a very serious undertone. For example, mayor Arinda Callewaert of the municipality of Bergeijk was handed a proverbial demolition hammer. In almost all cases these were spontaneous actions that were not centrally coordinated.

In several other places in Brabant, protests by farmers were accompanied by burning car tires and hay bales on Wednesday. This was the case at Biezenmortel, Moergestel and Udenhout, among others. The fire brigade also had to take action on Thursday evening for burning tractor tires. That was along the A58 highway, near the windmills at Oirschot, and along the Bestseweg in Liempde.
