The team of coach Hanno Balitsch wanted to start the European Championship against the Netherlands. It turned out very differently.

The German U19 national team had to accept a clear defeat at the start of the European Championship. In the first game of Group B, the team of coach Hanno Balitsch lost 0: 3 (0: 1) against the Netherlands.

Nine players in the starting XI had won an EM or World Cup title with the U17 last year. An early lead would have been possible, but Paris Brunner was unlucky: his shot first hit the right inner post in the 38th minute, jumped against the left aluminum from there – and then rolled back into the field.

Instead, Ayoub Oufkir achieved 1-0 for the Netherlands in the 43rd minute. In added time, the same player finally decided the game with his second goal (90.+1). Kees Smit set the final point just two minutes later (90.+3).

In the preliminary round, the German selection still meets England (Tuesday) and Norway (Friday), both games begin at 7 p.m. The two best teams of each group reach the semi -finals. The final is scheduled for June 26th.
